How is Buzz sustainable?
We at Change Chamber feel that we can introduce to the region a ‘starter set’ of sustainablity, features that save you a few bucks each month on electricity, water, fuel consumption and more.

There four basic sustaining elements that have been integrated into buzz:

Shade cools, plain and simple. So, we have extended the overhangs of the top floor, shaded the open breezeways and all balconies. We have even designed additional trellis for our westerly facing dwellings for those summer evenings.

$$ Saved: Lower electric bills for each unit and the Homeowner’s Association, energy conserved, emissions reduced.

Rainwater Capture The large, pitched butterfly roof systems will supply rainwater to be stored and reused for landscape irrigation into a water silo on the premises.

$$ Saved: Lower water bills, water conserved.

Xeriscape Landscape Think prairie grasses, river-rock beds, yucca plants. These plants are almost indestructible, require very little watering, and thrive in our zone.

$$ Saved: lower water bills for the Homeowners Association, reduced plant replacement costs.

Zero Energy transportation - Your eGO electric Moped: Take advantage of this one, it’s a cool way to scoot around the city, costs you ‘zippo’ to operate.

$$ Saved: check your gas bill lately?

Did you know bamboo is actually a grass? At Buzz, bamboo can be your floor. It’s great looking, less expensive than hardwood, made from recycled material, and is 100% non-toxic.

A No-Emissions Community? Yes, thanks to Green Mountain Energy Company forming a partnership with us, feel clean and green knowing your dwelling (and your eGo vehicle) is totally powered by wind energy, and at the same price of major carriers that are supplying coal burning energy.

Do the numbers:

By purchasing Green Mountain Energy Company ’s 100% Wind product for a year, a Texas household could avoid contributing approximately 17,000 pounds of (CO2) into our air – as much CO2 emission as your car makes in almost 20,000 miles of driving.

Add this up, for the 49 buzz residences, that equates to
833,000 pounds of CO2 avoided annually and almost 980,000 miles of driving.

Take it a step further, 980,000 miles of driving is the same as taking 65 cars off the roads for one year. (Assumes average monthly usage of 1,000 kWh for a year for the average Texas household and an average of 15,000 miles driven a year per auto)
